XP100 (XtraRich 100) is Indian Oil Corporation's only 100-octane, ethanol-free petrol in India. Laboratory testing by Autocar India using gas chromatography (ASTM D4815 standard) confirmed that XP100 contains less than 0.2% ethanol — making it effectively E0, pure petrol. All other petrol grades sold in India are now E20 (20% ethanol). Use this tool to find XP100 stations near you, filter by state and city, and report live fuel availability. Ethanol causes serious long-term damage to petrol-powered vehicles not designed for high ethanol blends. Rubber fuel hoses dry out and crack. Steel fuel tanks corrode and rust from within. Fuel injectors suffer corrosion and carbon deposits build up inside cylinders. Carbureted engines are especially vulnerable because they cannot self-adjust their air-fuel mixture — leading to lean running, misfiring, and accelerated wear.
The vehicles most at risk from E20 are: BS3 and older vehicles (fuel systems not designed for any ethanol); BS4 vehicles made before April 2023 (designed for E10, seeing 5–12% mileage loss on E20); carbureted engines (fixed jets, cannot compensate for leaner mixture); high-performance and imported vehicles (precision components tuned for low-ethanol fuel, with expensive or unavailable spare parts in India); classic and vintage vehicles (older metallurgy, irreplaceable parts); and any vehicle stored for long periods (ethanol phase-separates into a corrosive water layer at the bottom of the tank).
Beyond component damage, ethanol has 30–34% less energy density than pure petrol — translating to lower fuel efficiency and reduced power and torque output. XP100 eliminates all of these risks as India's only confirmed ethanol-free petrol.
Is XP100 truly ethanol-free? Yes. Autocar India's ASTM D4815 gas chromatography test confirmed XP100 has less than 0.2% ethanol — the only fuel in India that is effectively E0.
Can I use XP100 in any vehicle? Yes. XP100's higher octane will not harm engines tuned for lower octane fuel. The complete benefits are realised in high-compression engines.
Why is XP100 not available everywhere? XP100 is a niche, low-volume product. Ethanol blending happens at large depots and is impractical to manage for small batches of 100-octane fuel — which is one reason it stays ethanol-free.
What about HPCL Power100? HPCL's Power100 is also confirmed ethanol-free by the same Autocar India lab test. This finder now includes all 17 HPCL Power100 outlets across India, obtained via an RTI response from HPCL (July 2026). They are marked with a poWer100 badge.
